He makes a good point that it is better to have presidential candidates that are in power positions now, so we can see how they vote, and have that help us know what they stand for (more honestly).  B/c voting on something is more permanent than just saying, "Of course I would vote for this!"  The problems arise when those votes start to contradict what they already said, b/c its better for their public view if they vote the way they do.  it adds interest to a campaign.
